About the Author
William E. Ryan is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Arizona, where he has been a faculty member since 1998. Before moving to academia, he held positions in industry for five years. He has published over 100 technical papers and his research interests include coding and signal processing with applications to data storage and data communications.

Shu Lin is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of California, Davis. He has authored and co-authored numerous technical papers and several books, including the successful Error Control Coding (with Daniel J. Costello). He is an IEEE Life Fellow and has received several awards, including the Alexander von Humboldt Research Prize for U.S. Senior Scientists (1996) and the IEEE Third-Millenium Medal (2000).

This book is very well written by two of the leading coding experts in the world. The emphasis is on modern iteratively decoded codes and heavily weighted toward LDPC codes. The LDPC codes have borrowed heavily from classical codes and have transformed themselves into LDPC code classes. The book is for the advanced graduate researcher and the practicing coding engineer. The book is not a coding cookbook, the state of iterative coding today is still in its adolescent stage. There are still interesting problems to solve and they are alluded to in the book and the advanced topics chapter. This is must reading for the coding researcher and those working on next generation communications at the physical layer.

Excellent coverage of modern codes, not a replacement for classic texts

This book does a great job of explaining modern channel channel codes. LDPC codes are given exceptionally thorough treatment, but the various types of turbocodes are also covered well. This book's explanation of EXIT charts is better than any other coding textbook that I've read.

This textbook is not a replacement for the classics like Lin and Costello. Its treatment of block and convolutional codes is enough to introduce the modern codes, but not especially thorough or rigorous. This book can be a great companion to Lin and Costello, which provides a much stronger mathematical background to coding theory and goes into classical channel codes in greater detail.

Great book!!!

This book shows some details in LDPC codes and EXIT charts that you would not found in other literature. Another aspect that conduct me to buy this book was the Authors (William Ryan and Shu Lin) who are a reference in terms of channel coding and theoretical analysis. The book is organized in such way that you can improve your knowledge step by step. The details how to build modern LDPC codes are very didactic and self learning. If you have the chance to buy it do not hesitate. I strongly recommend this book. I love the book "Little Women

I love the book "Little Women." This audio drama is excellently done and remains true to the book. I have never been disappointed by any of the Focus on the Family Radio Theatre productions.

An exceptional retelling of Little Women

Focus on the Family's radio theater of Little Women in top notch! We have purchased many of their productions in the past and found this to be as good, or better than previous purchases. I have not read Little Women in many years, so I can't say for certain if it is faithful to the book, but if my memory serves me correct it is more faithful than the movie by the same name. If you like audio drama and have daughters then I would highly recommend this product. My 17, 14, and 10 year old daughters LOVE it, and my 6 year old son likes it.

Little Women Radio Theatre

Beyond our expectations!!! This presentation by Focus on the Family is beyond praise. Each character is excellently cast, the sound effects superb, and the story, of course, heartwarming. The radio theatre stories by Focus on the Family cause vivid mental pictures as you listen - almost as if you're watching a video of the book.

Big Fan of the series. Really enjoyed it. Picks up just after the events of the first volume, although it doesn't show how they got out of the situation they were in, guess maybe they'll do a flashback to it in volume 4?
The art styles shift and vary every few pages, i think there were about a half dozen or so artists so it is to be expected, it goes from quite good to quite rough looking.
Be aware however there is a bit of violence (blood, death, etc) and bad language (really filthy in some places) in this comic, also a sex scene between a cop and a prostitute.
The plot line is really getting interesting and the ending, well, quite unusual and interesting, i won't spoil it for you but its an interesting twist.

About the Author
Dr. Steven A. Beebe is Regents’ and University Distinguished Professor of Communication Studies at Texas State University. He served as Chair of the Department of Communication Studies for 28 years and as Associate Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communication for 25 years. Steve is an author or co-author of twelve books (with multiple editions totaling more than 70 books), more than 50 articles and book chapters, as well as over 150 papers and presentations at professional conferences. Steve’s communication books have been used at hundreds of colleges and universities throughout the world, making him one of the top communication textbook authors in the United States. Steve served as President of the National Communication Association (NCA), the largest professional communication association in the world, in 2013.

Susan J. Beebe was an award-winning faculty member in the Department of English at Texas State University from 1988 to her retirement in 2014. As Director of Lower-Division Studies in English for 11 years, she directed the first-year writing and sophomore literature programs and helped to train and mentor hundreds of graduate teaching assistants. Sue’s professional interests and expertise encompass both oral and written communication. She has co-authored with Steven Beebe several communication textbooks used at more than a thousand universities worldwide. In addition, she has published articles, conference papers, and teaching materials in both English and communication studies.

Diana K. Ivy, Ph.D., Professor of Communication at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi, has been teaching communication at the college level for over 30 years, including such undergraduate and graduate courses as nonverbal, interpersonal, gender, and instructional communication. She has co-authored three textbooks, Communication: Principles for a Lifetime, GenderSpeak: Personal Effectiveness in Gender Communication, and Nonverbal Communication for a Lifetime, all in multiple editions, and has published articles in Communication Education, Southern Communication Journal, and Women & Language. She was Speaker of the Faculty Senate and Director of the Women’s Center at her university, has held multiples offices in the National Communication Association, hosted a call-in radio show, “Call Me Ivy,” and completed post-doctoral coursework at Oxford University, studying C. S. Lewis and communication.

This only contains the first chapter of this book. Nice short section on gesture drawing but there's nothing on completing the figure, drawing volumes, or any of the other stuff associated with figure drawing. Disappointed.

These influences are the cause of action's source, age, wider context, and internal context. In the third part of the book, the analysis is turned around. The generalized framework is assessed as a way in which to categorize the development and shape of the cause of action in England under the Human Rights Act 1998. The book concludes that a generic structure of the cause of action is common to the three jurisdictions studied and that the differences between the jurisdictions can be explained by influences that affect the causes of action in different ways. Further, this generalized framework is of relevance beyond the three jurisdictions from which it was drawn. It can be used as a guide by other jurisdictions in which such a cause of action either exists or will develop in the future.

About the Author
Lisa Tortell is a research fellow at DINAMIA - Centre for Social and Economic Change in Lisbon. She holds a DPhil in Law from the University of Oxford and has previously worked as Legal Adviser to the ILO Commission of Inquiry on Freedom of Association in Belarus, as Legal Officer in the ILO, as Assistant Crown Counsel in the New Zealand Crown Law Office and as a Judge's Clerk to the Chief Justice of New Zealand.
